President buhari approves immediate suspension of controversial adamawa rec
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has approved the immediate suspension of the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Adamawa State, Mr Hudu Yunusa-Ari, pending the completion of investigation by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, into the conduct/actions of the REC during the recently-concluded controversial supplementary election in Adamawa State.
The President has also directed the immediate investigation, and prosecution, if found liable, of Yunusa-Ari, by the Inspector general of police.
He also gave further directives for DSS, NSCDC and other law enforcement agents involved in the electoral debacle to be investigated and prosecuted.
But many Nigerians are wondering why it will take the approval of the president before an erring public officer like Yunusa-Ari should be disciplined and prosecuted.
