Coalition of south-east youth leaders ( COSEYL) demands sack of Abike-Dabiri for discrimination against igbos in Sudan evacuation
Nothing short of the immediate sack of Abike Dabiri-Erewa from her job as the Director General of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), would assuage some Igbo youths on the platform of Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, (COSEYL), for alleged mistreatment of people of South East origin in the current evacuation exercise of Nigerians out of Sudan, where a raging fighting is going on.
The group which also called for her prosecution, accused her of displaying wickedness and inhumanity against Igbo population who are among those trapped in Sudan’s war, stating that they were appalled by the extent she had gone in such unwholesome act.
In a statement signed by Goodluck Ibem, the group said it was “alarmed over the inhuman and wicked treatment meted out to Nigerians of Igbo origin by Dabiri-Erewa wherein she and her team ordered all of them out from the rescue bus sent by the Federal Government to Sudan, which they had already entered, while conveying Nigerians of other ethnic origins.
“This is barbaric and wickedness of the highest order against humanity and we condemn it in its entirety. It is regrettable that Abike Dabiri-Erewa who is paid by tax payers money which Igbos are among will segregate against the same people contributing for her salaries and allowances. This evil and unpatriotic act against fellow Nigerians which she was employed to serve must never go unpunished.
“She is a national embarrassment to the nation and she should not stay a day longer as Chairman of NIDCOM. We are aware that her major evil plan is to ensure that all Igbos stranded in Sudan are killed which is why she chased those innocent Igbos out of the rescue bus, but her plans is dead on arrival.
“We call on the Chairman of Air Peace Airline Barr Allen Onyema who made his planes available to transport stranded Nigerians free of charge back to Nigeria to ensure that the plane will wait and not move until those Igbos who were chased out of the rescue bus are brought to the safe point where other Nigerians are kept.”
Calling on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyema to immediately do the needful to ensure that those stranded Igbo left to their fate in Sudan are rescued immediately out of danger, the group said: “We demand that those Nigerians who were chased out of the rescue bus should be the first people to board the flight before others and Abike should look for another means of coming back.”
Attempts by Agenda papers to get the side of Abike-Dabiri and Geoffrey Onyema proved abortive as calls placed to their cell phones rang out without them picking up the calls. Also text messages sent to them are yet to be replied as at the time of going to the press.
But nothing may come out of this demands taking into consideration that this regime has less than 30 days to pack and go and going by the antecedents of president Buhari who has been seen in some quarters as highly discriminatory and nepotistic.
