Nigerians pop champagne, drink, make merry and celebrate exit of Buhari as president

It’s was popping of champagne and clinging of glasses galore at various beer parlours across the country as most Nigerians celebrate the ignominious exit of President Buhari.

Many could not contain their joy in celebrations as they thanked God for surviving the eight years horrendous reign of the former military dictator.

From Agege to Abule-Egba, Festac, Surulere and Ikorodu in Lagos the story was the same as reports from our sources indicate that Nigerians were happy that Buhari has finally gone.

Same story was also reported from Aba in Abia state, Nnewi in Anambra state, Yenagoa in Bayelsa, Abuja, Kaduna ,Nassarawa, Benue and Plateau state.

Some of those interviewed went as far as saying that they will go for Thanksgiving service on Sunday to give testimony and thank God for sparing their lives.

Their joy is premised on what they passed through in the eight long years of Buhari. According to them in 2015 when Buhari ascended the presidency on the mantra of change he promised to eradicate corruption. But as he was leaving corruption worsened with Accountant-General of the federation stealing N109 billion. EFCC officials killing themselves over sharing of recovered loot even as EFCC chairman Bawa was demanding $2 million dollars bribe from an outgoing governor and ICPC in comatose.

Also in 2015 when he came into power a bag of rice was sold for N8000 but today it’s N40,000. Dollar was exchanging for N200 per dollar but today it’s N760 per dollar.

In the area of insecurity over 67,000 Nigerians lost their lives through Boko Haram, jihadists, kidnappers, unknown gun men, Fulani herdsmen, terrorists, etc. This was largely due to his criminal silence and clandestine state support of Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram.

Again millions of Nigerians lost their jobs due to ill conceived economic policies that saw many companies closing down and relocating to neighbouring counties.

The woes of Buhari regime is legion to them but the icing on the cake according to the celebrants was the truama it subjected Nigerians in February and March this year in a highly flawed new naira design policy where dozens of Nigerians died trying to assess their own money in the banks.

To most of them they chorused never in the history of this country will a character of Buhari preside as the president of Nigeria.
