Abia governor Alex Otti visits Sanwolu over Alaba international market demolition
Governor Alex Otti Of Abia state visited Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House to discuss the ongoing demolition of Alaba Market, which is predominantly inhabited by the Igbo community.
It will be recalled that the level of bigotry and state-sponsored terrorism unleashed by the APC-led government in the wake of both the Presidential and Gubernatorial elections on supporters of other parties was unprecedented.
Igbo traders had their shops and markets razed down by arsonists and it did not stop there, people were warned not to come out and vote if they were not voting for APC.
It was so bad that on election day, people were matcheted, shot at, and flogged by thugs alleged to be boys and supporters of the APC.
Chairman of Lagos state management park Mc Oloumo, was caught on tape warning Igbos not to come out and vote, and the government did or said nothing.
Nigerians have witnessed the height of state-sponsored tribal bigotry and violence sponsored by the APC, and history will remember the role Governor Sanwo-Olu played.
Much is to be seen of Governor Alex Otti’s visit to see if anything positive will come out.
Lagos State government has been demolishing enclaves and areas densely inhabited by igbos in what many have described as reprisal and pay back time for the role igbos played in the just concluded elections where they did not give full support to Governor Sanwolu and APC as a political party.
This saw the presidential candidate of Labour party Peter Obi winning Lagos, something that has not happened to Lagos State in the last 23 years.
