Guinness World Record disowns Nigerian man who got blind in cry-a-thon competition
A Nigerian who became blind during a cry-a-thon has been disowned by Guinness World Records.
Guinness World Records, GWR distanced itself from Tembu Ebere’s attempts to cry for 100 hours..
Ebere’s attempt to break the record for the longest personal cry left him temporarily blind.
In a BBC interview, Ebere gave an update on his health.
Ebere claimed that after suffering from excruciating headaches, puffy eyes, and a swollen face as a result of his continuous sobbing, he went briefly blind for 45 minutes.
However, the Guinness World Record, or GWR, distanced itself from such a record in response.
GWR emphasized that they did not support the endeavor and would not be able to monitor such a record in a tweet on Thursday.
Just to put an end to certain recent rumors, we would never keep track of a marathon crying record. Our team cannot keep an eye on such attempt, the body wrote.
