Relocate your investments to south east, Ohaneze advises Igbos as Governor Sanwolu demolishes properties in Lagos

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has called on Igbo residents in Lagos State to relocate their investments to Igbo land as their properties were being demolished in Lagos.

The group described as unfortunate the situation faced by Igbo residents in Lagos due to the ongoing demolition exercises.

A press statement issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, noted that Igbo land has vibrant commercial cities such as Aba, Abakiliki, and Onitsha that offer better alternatives to Ndigbo.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo encourages Igbo to seize this moment as an opportunity to reassess their investments and consider relocating them to the Eastern region. Our vibrant cities such as Aba, Abakiliki, and Onitsha offer immense potential for growth and development. By investing and building international markets in these areas, we can create prosperous economic hubs that will benefit not only the Igbo people but also contribute to the overall development of Nigeria, “the document stated.

It called on all Igbo residents in Lagos to come together and support one another during the challenging period. “Together, we can navigate through these difficulties and forge a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.

“The recent events have prompted a reflection on the forewarnings issued by our legendary icon, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, regarding the potential consequences of Igbo investing in another man’s land and abandoning their homeland for Lagos, and flouting the Ojukwu”s warnings had led to huge loss of properties and investments.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo firmly believes that in every adversity lies an opportunity for redress and growth. While we empathize with the affected Igbo residents, we acknowledge that their refusal to heed Ojukwu’s forewarnings has contributed to their current misfortunes. It is crucial to learn from these mistakes and take proactive measures to prevent occurrences in the future.”

The group however, reiterated its position that they will not engage in a confrontation with the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Sanwo-Olu, over the ongoing demolition of properties owned by a majority of Igbo residents.

“We understand that the Lagos government has legitimate reasons for carrying out these actions and that they are within the framework of legislation.”
