Tinubu appoints Kemi Nandap as new Comptroller –General Of Nigeria Immigration services
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Kemi Nandap as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), effective from 1 March.
Kemi replaces Caroline Adepoju whose is retiring after her term expiration coming up at the end of this month
This was made known by a press statement by presidential special adviser on media Ajuri Ngalare.
Mrs Nandap, a deputy comptroller grneral, takes over from Caroline Adepoju, whose term in office expires on 29 February.
Before her appointment as CG, Mrs Nandap was the deputy comptroller-general in charge of the Migration Directorate of the Service.
The president anticipated that the new Comptroller-General will deepen the ongoing reforms in the service and create a robust mechanism for efficient and dedicated service delivery to Nigerians, as well as strengthen the nation’s security through proactive and effective border security and migration management.
Nigerians’ are hoping that the new helmswonan at the immigration services will come up with a lot of innovations to sanitize the already badly dainted immigration service particularly the passport offices which is embedded in graft and corruption.
She should bring new ideas that will make for easy and seamless application, procurement, renewal of international passports as Nigerians go through a whole lot of difficulties in getting a passport.
Most of the passport offices notably Ikoyi, Festac and Ikeja offices are populated by corrupt immigration officers who extort hapless and innocent
Nigerians in their bid to get a passport as they are in most times subjected to undignifying and humiliating conditions before they procure or renew their passports.
