Finally Idowu Iluyomade resigns his calling as Redeemed church Pastor

The suspended Senior Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Region 20, City of David, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, has resigned his appointment from the Church.

A reliable source confirmed that the cleric, who was also head of the Apapa Family of the RCCG, turned in his resignation letter on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Iluyomade, popularly called Pastor ID, who was asked by the leadership of the Church to step down for three months and report to the headquarters of the RCCG in Ebute Metta, Lagos, was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of RCCG Resurrection Parish, the Region 11 Headquarters.

This is pending investigation of various allegations of wrongdoing leveled against him, particularly the lavish party, organised by his wife and fellow Pastor, Siju, to mark her 60th birthday on February 18.

The merriment was frowned upon by many leaders and members of the Church as well as a section of the public, as they considered it insensitive to the mourning of a prominent member and major financier of the parish, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, founding Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, his wife, Chizoba and their son, Chizi, who died in a helicopter crash on February 9.

The former Chairman of Nigeria Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the pilot and co-pilot also died in a Di Airbus Helicopter EC 130B4 with registration number N130CZ, near Halloran Springs, California.

The party by Pastor Siju, a lawyer and founder of the Arise Women Foundation as well as the Handmaidens Women in Leadership was held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, was attended by guests from all walks of life and had secular musicians, including Flavour N’abania, on the bandstand.

Among those who were irked was the 89-year-old father of late Wigwe and one-time Director-General of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Shyngle Wigwe, who apparently instructed that the City of David be excluded from participating in the burial arrangements, which took place in Lagos and Rivers states.

Incidentally, Pastor Kpandei, who has now taken over from Iluyomade, preached at the combined Service of Songs, held on March 7, 2024, at the RCCG, Resurrection Parish, Lekki, Lagos, which was among events in Lagos and Rivers states.
