Some people cannot see anything good,Wike blasts critics condemning his order to permanent secretaries to bow down to Tinubu

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has clarified why he instructed permanent secretaries to bow before President Bola Tinubu during the commissioning of the Aerial Road N20 Expressway in Abuja.

This directive, given on Tuesday, sparked criticism, which Wike addressed in his response.

Wike explained that the gesture was meant to express gratitude to President

According to Wike, Tinubu’s decision revived the career prospects of these officials, enabling them to reach the pinnacle of their civil service careers.

“Two days ago, when the President came, we tried to thank him for what he did in making sure that those who had already lost hope in their career progression got to the peak of their career,” Wike stated.

He further noted that before this intervention, the FCTA did not have permanent secretaries. Tinubu’s administration, committed to renewing hope, ensured that these officials could achieve the highest positions in their careers, potentially even becoming heads of the civil service.

Wike called out the permanent secretaries, who were beneficiaries of this policy, to take a bow and show their appreciation to President Tinubu.

He criticised those who found fault with this act of gratitude, accusing them of failing to recognise and appreciate the positive developments brought about by the President’s decision.

“It is an honour to be called out to take a bow, but some human beings can never see anything good. Instead, they are criticising, saying, ‘How will you call people who are permanent secretaries and ask them to take a bow?’” Wike remarked.

He urged critics to commend the President for his efforts in restoring hope and advancing the careers of civil servants who had previously faced stagnation.

Wike concluded by suggesting that those who always find fault have nothing constructive to say and emphasized the importance of acknowledging positive actions and decisions.
