Director-General of National Intelligence Agency Rufai Abubakar tenders resignation over insecurities
The Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, has tendered his resignation to President Bola Tinubu.
The reason for his resignation is unknown as of the time of filing this report.
Abubakar had taken over the reins of the NIA after his predecessor, Ayo Oke, was suspended in April 2017 by former President Muhammadu Buhari over allegations of fraud.
Oke was later dismissed on October 30, 2017, following a probe into the allegations.
In 2021, Buhari extended Abubakar’s tenure as NIA DG.
