Bill to build & establish Bola Tinubu university passes second reading at National Assembly
Just like what Rotimi Amaechi former transportation minister did by building a university for former president Buhari at Daura, Kastina state the house of representatives has advanced a bill proposing the creation of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal University of Nigerian Languages.
This follows its first reading on Thursday by Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.
The bill was sponsored by Kalu alongside eight others.
The bill focuses on establishing a higher institution dedicated to promoting Nigerian languages and cultural studies.
The proposed university would provide equal educational opportunities in Nigerian languages, offering diplomas, degrees, and postgraduate programmes designed to develop skills in language and cultural fields, Dockaysworld gathered.
It will also produce graduates who can effectively use Nigerian languages for national growth.
The institution would also facilitate postgraduate training, research, and innovation, aiming to optimize Nigeria’s resources.
Furthermore, it will collaborate with other national institutions involved in similar fields, promoting in-service training and educational outreach.
The bill revealed that Tinubu will be the university’s visitor, responsible for conducting evaluations at least once every five years.
The President is also given authority to remove council members, excluding the pro-chancellor and vice-chancellor, based on misconduct or inability to perform duties.
The bill is scheduled for a second reading in the coming weeks, where stakeholders’ views will be gathered through a public hearing.
