Remembering Dele Giwa, celebrity journalist 38 years after
Exactly 38 years ago life was snuffed out of the life of erudite and celebrity journalist Dele Giwa.
He was the publisher/editor -In-Chief of Newswatch magazine.
He was killed via a novel parcel bomb delivered to his Ikeja office on October, 19, 1986.
This first in history mode of killing was carried out during the regime of the military president, Ibrahim Babangida.
The lethal package was said to have been delivered by a former senior military officer who today is heading one of the federal government agencies.
Before Dele Giwa met his untimely death he was accused by the then government of the day of gunning running, plans of subversion and other national security infractions.
Up till this time around the federal government has not come out with report of the findings of his death as even Babangida has not said anything tangible about the death of Dele Giwa.
