Obasa refused to resign as Lagos state speaker 24 hours after agreement of stepping down

Twenty four hours after the gentleman agreement douse the inferno at the Lagos state house of assembly reinstated speaker Mudasiru Obasa is yet to keep his own side of the bargain.

According to the agreement which saw the first ever female speaker in Lagos state Mojisola Meranda stepping down it was agreed that after 24 hours Obasa will step down as well to pave the way for a brand new speaker.

Obasa ran into troubled waters few weeks ago when his colleagues almost unanimously removed him as speaker. In his stead Mojisola Meranda was elected as substantive speaker.

But through days and weeks of horse trading, manoeuvrings it was clandestinely agreed that both Meranda and Obasa should vacate the seat of the speaker for the election of a neutral person.

With the obstinacy of Obasa nobody knows what the next line of action will be.

Obviously the GAC which is the highest governing and decision making body of APC in Lagos state may not be happy with the development of events particularly if at the end of the day Obasa refused to step aside and resign.
