According to the mission, individuals who exceed their permitted stay could face a permanent ban from entering the United States, as well as criminal prosecution.

The US authorities clarified that consular officers have full access to individual immigration records, eliminating any possibility of evading consequences for past infractions.

The statement read, “If you overstay your US Visa, you could face a permanent ban on travel to the United States as well as criminal prosecution. Consular officers have full access to your immigration history and will know about past violations. There is no such thing as ‘honest mistake.”
