16 killed in Uromi,Edo state uproar, 100 killed in Bokkos, Plateau state silence—Dele Farotimi slams Tinubu on hypocrisy
Prominent Nigerian lawyerand activist, Dele Farotimi, has taken to his official X (formerly called Twitter) account to highlight what he describes as a glaring double standard in the nation’s response to acts of violence across different regions.
In a sharply worded post, Farotimi stated: “16 killed in Uromi: Uproar. 100 killed in Bokkos: Silence.”
The statement draws a stark comparison between public outrage following the killing of 16 people in Uromi, a town in Edo State, and the muted response to the killing of over 100 individuals in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
He further criticized what he sees as societal hypocrisy, adding: “That annoying hypocrisy and double standards are the reason God looks at you as an idiot when you bother Him with prayers concerning Nigeria.”
His post suggests deep frustration with the moral and spiritual inconsistency he perceives in the country’s collective conscience.
Farotimi amplified a sentiment that adds to the cynicism: “Me: if dem explain Nigeria give you, you come understand, you are either insane or insane.”
The phrase underscores the complexity and seeming irrationality of the Nigerian socio-political landscape, as viewed by many observers and critics.
