I challenge you to golf match, will give you 10 strokes a side & give $1 million if you win—–Trump dares Joe Biden
On Tuesday, the battle between Donald Trump and Joe Biden for the highest office in the world got back to its main issue: Who is better at golf?
Speaking to a crowd at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami, Trump challenged Biden to an “18-hole golf match” and promised to donate $1 million dollars to a charity of the U.S. President’s choice if he loses.
“It will be among the most watched sporting events in history, maybe bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters,” Trump said.
The 78-year-old golf-loving former president offered to give the 81-year-old Biden a huge advantage and still vowed to come out on top.
“I will even give Joe Biden 10 strokes a side. 10 strokes, that’s a lot. That means 20 strokes in case you don’t play golf,” Trump boasted. “I will give him 10 strokes a side and if he wins, I will give the charity of his choice, any charity that he wants, $1 million.
That comment, and the entire spectacle, harkens back to the last month’s debate where the pair of presidential contenders somehow ended up in a heated argument about the quality of one another’s golf game.
In case you missed that great moment in U.S. presidential debate/golf history:
“I’d be happy to have a driving contest with him,” Biden said during the now-famous exchange. “I got my handicap, which when I was vice president, down to a six. But, by the way, I told you, I’m happy to play golf if you carry your own bag. Think you can do it?”
“That’s the biggest lie, that he’s a six handicap, of all,” Trump responded.
“I was an eight handicap,” Biden answered, forgetting that 10 seconds earlier he was a six handicap.
“Never,” Trump retorted, shaking his head. “I’ve seen your swing, I know your swing. Let’s not act like children.”
“You are a child,” Biden said, temporarily ending the most memorable golf debate in history.
In the two weeks since the one-sided debate, Biden has been facing pressure from critics and many supporters to step aside after showing his age and looking less than sharp on stage with his boastful rival.
Maybe it’s time for Scranton Joe to dust off the golf clubs and show the world that he’s still got it. Or maybe not.
