Inspector-General of police demote police inspector harrasing and insulting civilian in Rivers
The Inspector-General of police has approved the sanction of officers seen in a viral video assaulting an unidentified man in Rivers State last week.
In the viral video three police men were seen threatening one gentleman on white native attire with the inspector pointing his gun at him and asking him to move inside his car.
He was also seen beating and slapping the hapless man while the other officers looked in approving manner.
The chief culprit inspector Adejoh Siaka, got his rank reduced from Inspector to Sergeant while another officer, Sergeant Ndiwa Kpuebari who was also present at the scene was severely reprimanded.
The only officer that escaped the sledge-hammer was Inspector Friday Obaka, who was later discovered to have been absent from the scene of the skirmish and was accordingly discharged unconditionally at the conclusion of the proceedings.
However the three Policemen will be posted out of Rivers State to other Commands and Formations to continue their police duties.
