Lagos state governor Sanwo-Olu visits Maiduguri & says extent of flood, devastating
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has paid a visit to his Borno State counterpart, Professor Babagana Zulum, to commiserate with him and entire people of the state over a recent flood disaster that left many dead and millions displaced in Maiduguri and other parts of the state.
Sanwo-Olu, who described the extent of damage as a result of the flood as “truly devastating”, was on the solidarity visit alongside governors; Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and Abdulraman Abdulrazaq of Ondo, Adamawa, and Kwara States respectively.
In an update on his social media handle, Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended the resilience of the people of Borno state, while offering prayers for victims of the disaster.
He also highlighted the need to rally support and other relief items to ensure that victims receive necessary aids.
The statement read: “Today, I joined the Governors of Ondo, Adamawa, and Kwara on a visit to Borno State to extend our support to Governor Babagana Zulum in light of the tragic flooding in Maiduguri. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected by this disaster.
“The extent of the flooding in Maiduguri is truly devastating. As a nation, it is important that we come together to provide relief, assist in rescue operations, and ensure that those affected receive the necessary aid.
“We stand in solidarity with the people of Maiduguri and commend the ongoing rescue efforts.
“The community’s resilience is truly inspiring, and Lagos remains dedicated to offering our support in every possible way.
