We are mandated to protect animals in our custody & ensure rights are not violated—-Nigerian police update on arrested dogs that killed security man
The Nigerian Police has come to say that they will ensure the protection of animals in their custody but ensure their rights are not trampled upon.
Lagos State police command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin stated this when giving clarifications on the arrested ferious dogs that bite and killed on security man at Lekki area of Lagos.
The dogs were said to have escaped from it’s cage and compound of the owner and strayed into the streets where it attacked a security man on duty.
Benjamin Hundeyin said ‘ the dogs are getting the best treatment. We do not condone cruelty to animals.
He further explained “These were the dogs after they arrived at the Command headquarters before our K-9 unit came to take them into better custody.
As the dog is under arrest so is also the owner of the dog who has been under police arrest since the day of the ugly incident.
As at the time of going to press it has not been determined how much compensation the owner of the dog is going to pay to the family of the dead security man.
