NFF appoints Ivory Coast ‘s Éric Chelle as new Super Eagles head coach….replaces Austin Eguavon
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Éric Sékou Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles. This decision follows a recommendation from the NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee, which was endorsed by the NFF Executive Committee on January 7, 2025.
Chelle, former coach of Mali’s national team, has also managed clubs such as GS Consolat, FC Martigues, and MC Oran. He guided Mali to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals, narrowly losing to hosts Côte d’Ivoire after extra time.
The 47-year-old replaces the previous coach with immediate effect and will lead the Super Eagles in their qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, starting with upcoming matches in March.
