Aggrieved customer sues First Bank after N550 million was siphoned out of his account
A businessman, Eke Agbai Eke has dragged one of Nigeria’s oldest bank, First Bank to Court over what he described as fraud against his person.
Eke who is a well known influential personality in Abia had deposited the sum of five hundred and fifty million naira with Frist Bank, precisely Abiriba branch in Abia State, in a bid to support and contribute to the development of the community.
Although, the Abiriba First Bank branch has now relocated to Uzuakoli, Agenda Papers however gathered that, Mr. Eke decided to challenge the fraud after the bank failed to secure his N550 Million Naira.
In a lawsuit, filed by Mr. Eke’s lawyer, Ebuka Nwaeze, he stated that First Bank has refused to return his N550million naira deposit, which he originally placed at the Abiriba branch to help grow the bank’s presence in his community.
This newspaper was also informed that a total number of nine senior executives have so far been suspended after they were found to be involved in the disappearance of the money.
During the last court sitting, both First Bank and Mr. Eke Agbai were present in court.
Justice U.D. Enwereji who is the presiding judge, later adjourned the case to allow for a proper hearing and for the parties to present their various evidences.
Effort to get to First Bank lawyer or the organisation spokesperson was unsuccessful as at the time of filling this report.
