Tinubu’s regime is attacking freedom of speech by banning Eedris Abdulkarim protest song—Afenifere blast Tinubu
A faction of Afenifere has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of attacking free speech and weakening Nigeria’s democratic foundations.
In a statement by its leader, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, and spokesman, Prince Justice Faloye, the group said the government is centralising power, undermining federalism, and silencing dissent.
They pointed to the ban on Eedris Abdulkareem’s protest song Tell Your Papa as proof of growing intolerance. “This shows a shift toward autocratic control,” the group said.
Afenifere also expressed concern over rising insecurity, citing a report that over 1,400 people were killed and hundreds kidnapped in early 2025.
They urged the federal government to establish state police and end open grazing to improve security nationwide.
