One confirmed dead, several others injured as 3 storey building collapses in Ojodu-Lagos

One person has been confirmed dead while several others sustained various degrees of injuries at an early morning building collapse in Ojodu Lagos,

The building located on Oremeta Street housed a popular eatery in the area, known as Equal Rights on the ground floor and was undergoing some repair works, amidst complaints of lack of integrity.

About 7 people were trapped as at the time of our report.

The 3-storey building came crashing down at about around 8 a.m., catching residents and passersby off guard, and injuring about 7 people.

Eyewitnesses said the cause of the collapse remains unclear, but some locals had long voiced concerns about the integrity of the structure.

A second check showed emergency services have taken over and were trying to ensure rescue operations went well.

Though there was no report of immediate casualty, that men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, as well as Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, were on ground trying to rescue victims.
