EFCC Case is no barrier to Akpabio becoming senate president–Senator Ndume
Top ranking Senator and chairman senate committee on army Ali Ndume has said authoritatively that nothing on earth will be a barrier to Senator Godswill Akpabio to become the Senate president.
He said even though Senator Akpabio has several cases with EFCC as former governor of Akwa Ibom and NDDC chairman where he is accused of embezzling billions of naira.
The APC had earlier micro zoned the senate presidency to the south-south geo-political zone and Senator Akpabio was selected as the main contender.
Also it is reliably gathered that the president elect Bola Tinubu has given his blessings for the emergence of Akpabio as Senate president.
Although this micro zoning has received a lot knocks from APC as a party even as other senators from other political parties are insisting that they should be allowed to select their first among equals leader.
One of the top contenders to the exalted position Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is also fuming on the selection of Akpabio as he hasthreatened that there will be revolt if the party insists as the sole candidature of Akpabio.
Recently the vice president elect Shettima brought another twist to the contest as he has said that senate president and speaker of the house of representatives cannot come from the same faith.
The 109 senators elected on the platforms of various political parties are expected to electe their leader by June when the tenure of this current senate will be over.
