Hope Uzodinma & Southeast leaders should desist from interfering in Lagos governance—-Think Yourba First (TYF) Warns

A socio-cultural and political organisation, Think Yoruba First (TYF), has condemned the “interference” of leaders of the Southeast in the governance of Lagos.

This was after the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, on behalf of the South Eastern Governors, received the report of the joint committee set up by the Lagos State Government to address the concerns surrounding the demolition of structures identified as illegal.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Publicity Relations Officer, TYF worldwide, Ogbeni Oluwole, said it was an “audacious, repugnant and provocative move” when Uzodinma announced being part of the committee to save properties belonging to his kinsmen from demolition.

TYF pointed out that properties owned by many Yoruba people suffered such a fate previously without their governors interfering.

“Also, Eastern Governors have consistently demolished properties in Governor Uzodinma’s region without a word from these disrespectful leaders,” Oluwole said.

“The temerity and bold face to even dare question a Yoruba governor from enforcing the law to effect genuine development, indicates that they truly view Lagos as a no man’s land. How did we get here?

“As an institution, we strongly advise Southeast governors to redirect their attention to making their region comfortable enough for investors and their indigenes. Even accommodating such engagements puts us at risk of handing over a conquered land to our children. We call for the immediate dissolution of the nauseatingly annoying ‘Joint Committee’.

“Is it not even ludicrous that the same people projecting Lagos as ‘smelling’, called on their leaders to stop Lagos from doing the needful for a cleaner state?” TYF asked.

The organisation said the only way to a peaceful country is mutual respect of boundaries, just as it advised Uzodinma and his fellow “journeymen” to retreat and never attempt such in future.
