Julius Abure is authentic labour party chairman, not Apapa, court of appeal rules

Julius Abure, national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), heaved a sigh of relief on Thursday, May 18 when the the Court of Appeal revoke the order restraining him from his substantive office.

Prior to the ruling Abure has been in a leadership tussle with Lamido Apapa, his deputy, who accused him of corruption, subsequently suspended him and usurped the office although he (Apapa) was not supported by majority of the members of the party.

Apapa also subsequently got a court order restraining Abure from parading himself as the national chairman.

However, all the fight has been laid to rest as he said that “It has become imperative for me to address this press conference to properly put the legal issues surrounding the leadership of the party on their proper perspectives for quite some time now about the leadership of the party.

“The matter is now on the course list of the Court of Appeal. So, what the High Court judge is expected to do is to adjourn the matter sine die.” – with reports from the Tribune.

Two days ago the purported Labour party factional chairman Lamido Apapa was disgraced and thrown out of the court room in Abuja when he wanted to contest the seat of the party chairman inside the court hearing the case of Labour party presidential candidate Peter Obi against INEC declaration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
