I will be leaving office of Abia state governor a happy man–Okezie Ikpeazu
Outgoing Abia state governor Okezie Ikpeazu has done a self assessment of himself and tenure as governor in the last eight years and hit his hand in the chest to allocate himself a pass mark.
Hear him:
I have secured our dear state for 8 years, delivered over 250 roads, built over 750 new classroom blocks with 4 model schools, sent over 250 Abia Youths on Scholarships abroad and will be Commisoning over 11 projects in the next one week, I feel fulfilled”
Okezie Ikpeazu is taunted as one of the worst performing governors of the eclipsing political dispensation. This is predicated on the fact that most of the roads in Abia state particularly in commercial nerve centre Aba and state capital Unuahia are in very terrible state.
He is also leaving a backlog of unpaid salary arrears to workers, deplorable infrastructure, insecurity and general poverty in the state
Okezie Ikpeazu PDP lost the election to Alex Otti’s Labour party in an election Abia state indigenes heaved a sigh of relief that they have voted out a party that had held the state in bondage for past 24 years with predecessors Orji Uzor Kalu and TA Orji plundering the state during their tenure as governors.
Okezie Ikpeazu also lost his bid to become a Senator to APGA Enyinnaya Abaribe in an election many dubbed pay back time to a woeful performance.
