Super Falcons of Nigeria defied the odd on Saturday, 26 July, 2025, in Rabat beating Morocco to win their 10th Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title reports thegazellenews.com.
The Nigerian girls have to do it the hard way having to come from two goals down in the first half to turn the game around in the second half scoring three goals.
Nigeria went behind in the 16th minute as Morocco skipper, Chebak curled an unstoppable shot past Chiamaka Nnadoziw.
They doubled their lead in the 24th minute through Missouomi.
The Nigerians came into the second half with renewed vigour and determination and they pulled one back in the 64th through Esther Okoronkwo who sent the Moroccan goalkeeper to the wrong way from the spot.
In the 70th minute, Okoronkwo unselfishly laid the ball down for Ijamilusi to score the equaliser and again Okoronkwo provided the free kick from which Jennifer Echeginni scored the winner in the 86th minute.
It is not surprising that Okoronkwo was declared the player of the match
