Ushie Rita Uguamaye, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Lagos, popularly known as “Raye,” has accused the scheme of withholding her discharge certificate criticizing the President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Agenda Papers recalls that Ms Uguamaye had previously voiced her struggles and frustrations about Nigeria’s economic hardship under President Tinubu in March.
The corps member later raised the alarm in another video, alleging that NYSC officials were threatening her because of the viral clip and wanted her to delete it.
When it seemed as though the matter had died down, her Local Government Inspector (LGI) reportedly summoned her to appear at the Eti-Osa Local Government office — the local government area where her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) was located.
In a recent video, she alleged that her LGI refused to clear her for April, despite her being present on the scheduled date.
In a clip shared on Instagram on Saturday, the corps member claimed she was repeatedly instructed to “go to the back” during the clearance exercise until her file was eventually seized. She also alleged that the official refused to attend to her and ordered her to leave.
“I did not get my NYSC certificate today after one year of serving this country. I literally went there with my cohort, the people we served together, and when it got to my turn, they said no certificate for you.”

“I genuinely wish I wasn’t Noa Lagos state Corper because it’s a waste of my time. I can’t say moving here was bad but serving here isn’t all pleasure.
“Just to add to it, they said the reason I’m not getting my certificate is because I didn’t clear myself for the month of April on my scheduled date. But what they aren’t saying is how I was present to get cleared, yet the LGI kept asking me to go to the back, and when she finally wanted to attend to me, she said she wouldn’t clear me.
“She seized my file and told me to get out. This is a long story, and I don’t mind waking up at midnight to tell the story.
The deep-rooted anger I feel and hatred is crazy because I don’t know who to direct it to.
Up to this moment NYSC is yet to respond to her accusations.
