Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has stirred controversy with his recent remarks on the true origins of Nigeria.
Speaking during a sermon, Adefarasin dismissed the popular narrative that Nigeria’s independence movement leaders such as Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe were the nation’s “founding fathers.” Instead, he argued that Nigeria was never divinely ordained but rather established as a business enterprise by Britain.
“Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe are not the founding fathers of Nigeria. Nigeria was a British business project. This country was never created by God,” he declared.
The cleric emphasized that the colonial amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates in 1914 was orchestrated purely for economic convenience, not national destiny.
