A delegation of Oke-Afa Community leaders led by the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Mr Sunday Kolawole Popoola today Tuesday, August, 26, 2025 embarked on an advocacy visit to the office of Engr. Babatunde Akeem Adesina, Special Adviser (SA) on Works to Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The purpose of the visit was to once again draw the attention of the Ogun State Government to the deplorable state of Oke-Afa road and the need to urgently repair it for the benefit of thousands of people who live in that axis of Ogun State.
OKeafa main link road is the major road that enables many sub communities and residents to assess the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and to go out for their daily hustle and work.
Every year the community through the CDC and other community public spirited individuals spend over N6 million on palliative measures to make the road motor able.
The state of the road gets worse during the rainy season as a good portion of the road gets flooded making commuting in and out of the community near impossible. It has damaged several vehicles, endangered the lives of residents as most of them literally swim through the river-like flooded road to go out and come into their houses.
Ogun state government has been promising to construct the road for years now but end up not fulfilling their promises.
In the 2023 Governorship election Governor Dapo Abiodun made it a major campaign issue with a promise to construct the road. Two years to the expiration of his two tenure Okeafa main access road is yet to be constructed and the residents have been undergoing untold hardship as a result of this neglect.
