Ex senate president Lawan Accepts to support emergence of Akpabio as senate president—Hope Uzodinma

Newly elected Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo state governor Senator Hope Uzodinma has said that Outgone senate president Lawan has accepted to support the ambition of Godswill Akpabio to become the president of the 10th Senate.

According to Hope Uzodinma with this Lawan endorsement Akpabio’s acceptance is across party lines.

This is coming barely 24 hours to the inauguration of the 10th national assembly on Tuesday, June 13th 2023.

Uzodimma stated this on Monday in a chat with State House correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on the occasion of June 12 Democracy Day.

He has expressed confidence that Akpabio, who is the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for choice for the Senate President will emerge winner on Tuesday.

In his remarks, Akpabio promised to work with all Senators irrespective of political affiliations.

But this is not going down well with some politicians and notable personalities from the south east who see Hope Uzodinma and other high networth politicians from the zone like Dave Umahi supporting Akpabio from South South-south against their fellow kinsman Orji Uzor Kalu to emerge as the president of the senate.
