Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has spoken about an encounter he had with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at his palace
In a video from 16:01 shared by Sahara TV, Sowore stated that there was a time he visited the palace of the Ooni of Ife and was made to wait for about three hours before the monarch eventually came out to meet him. He disclosed that when Oba Ogunwusi finally came out and sat down, people told him to go and prostrate to the monarch
Sowore said he stood up, took a microphone and questioned why he should prostrate to Oba Ogunwusi after being kept waiting for 3 hours.
In Sowore’s words: “The Ooni Of Ife kept us waiting for 3 or 4 hours in his palace. He now came out and he sat down. They said ‘Sowore, the Oonirisa has arrived, you should go and prostrate to him’. I said ‘For what?’. I stood up and took the microphone and said ‘You kept me here for 3 hours and you asked me to prostrate for you’”
