A wide protest and condemnation has greeted the naira rain and nauseous spraying of naira during the visit of president Tinubu to Adamawa state.
Nigerians are watching with fingers crossed to see if the DSS and EFCC will effect arrest of the culprits involved in the abuse of the naira which the same EFCC has convicted and jailed some Nigerians as it is an offence
Meanwhile an APC supporter was cautioned for spraying naira notes during Hausa musician Dauda Rarara’s performance at President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Adamawa State on Monday, despite Nigeria’s laws prohibiting currency abuse.
The incident occurred while Rarara performed his hit ‘Omo Ologo’ in honour of Tinubu, who appeared pleased.
An overexcited woman in APC attire sprayed about three notes near the singer before being immediately cautioned.
Section 21 of the CBN Act makes spraying, stepping on, or using naira as props illegal, with violators facing penalties.
The incident follows recent high-profile prosecutions, including Bobrisky’s six-month sentence in April 2024 and Cubana Chief Priest’s N10 million bail.
Tinubu was in Adamawa to inaugurate projects including model schools across 21 LGAs, an eight-lane underpass, remodelled high court, and new Government House complex.
