Armed bandits, their large number, have launched a fresh attack on Dutsin Dan Ajiya village of Anka local government area, Zamfara State.
A source in the Anka local government area disclosed that the attack, which occurred late Thursday night, claimed at least 30 lives, abducted several others, and injured others, reports Nigerian Tribune.
Close source Mallam Isah lamented that the incident occurred late Thursday, at midnight, when the heavily armed bandits on motorcycles blocked roads leading to the village and opened fire.
“We have counted no fewer than 30 dead bodies this morning, from the main road leading to the Dutsin Ajiya village up to the town,” he lamented.
According to him, many villagers sustained injuries, and people in the community have now fled the village for fear.
“As I’m talking to you, people in the community and surrounding villages are leaving in fear; children and women are crying,” he further lamented.
Efforts to contact the Zamfara police proved abortive, as the command public relations officer and all his lines were not reachable up to the time of filing the report.
