Veteran actor Pete Edochie has drawn attention online after a video surfaced showing him criticising the practice of men kneeling to propose to women.
The clip, which first appeared on Instagram on Monday, was uploaded by an account user identified as Marvy Ogun before it began spreading through reposts and shares.
In the video, Edochie was heard saying: “Any man who gets down on his knees to propose to a woman is not just an idiot, he’s a fool.”
He further described the practice as an attempt to copy Western culture, adding that it does not reflect African tradition or the way men should conduct themselves.
After making the statement, reactions quickly followed as the clip gained traction online.
Some users agreed with his position on cultural values, while others rejected the remark, arguing that kneeling during a proposal is simply a personal choice.
One Instagram user, miz_loritta, wrote: “Na why em sons dem dey do anyhow for their marriage.”
Another user, Barbie_pink, commented: “Any man way no kneel down propose to me never ready to marry me.”
The video has continued to circulate across platforms including X, where discussions around the comment remain active.
