Wide spread condemnation and apprehension have greeted the public statement of Edo state governor Monday Okpebollo insisting that only the presidential banner of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be tolerated in the state in the coming 2027 election.
The governor did not stop there as he further threatened that any other banner from another political party will spell trouble.
This is coming in the heels of the brutal attack of the Labour party presidential candidate in the 2023 election Peter Obi in Edo few weeks ago where he narrowly escaped death and his vehicles were badly damaged.
The same embattled governor had last year openly warned Peter Obi not to step foot in Edo state without getting express permission from him as he boasted that he is the new sheriff in town.
Governor Okpebollo has consistently boasted that he will deliver over 90% votes to President Tinubu in the 2027 election.
