A trauma counsellor and addiction therapist, Christie Bature, has shared a personal account of how growing up in a home affected by alcohol shaped her early life.
Speaking during an episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast by Glitch Africa studios, Bature explained that her father struggled with heavy drinking while she was growing up.

“My father was a heavy drinker, he started giving us alcohol from the age of 2, but I stopped drinking at the age of 10,” she said. According to her, the situation exposed her and her siblings to alcohol at a very early stage, creating challenges that affected the entire family. She noted that the experience influenced their behaviour and contributed to early struggles with substance use.
