Nigerian nightlife entrepreneur Paschal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, saying he is entering politics to serve rather than enrich himself.
The socialite, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ally of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, said he plans to represent Orsu, Orlu, and Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State.
In a viral video, he outlined his motivation for seeking office, stressing his commitment to development in his constituency.
“I am not coming to steal money. I am planning to add mine to the Constituency account, build more projects for my people,” he said.
Cubana Chief Priest, who has been an outspoken supporter of President Bola Tinubu, said his decision to join politics aligns with his desire to contribute to governance and grassroots development.
He had earlier urged people in the South-East to engage the political system from within to achieve meaningful progress.
Reaffirming his support for Tinubu, he expressed confidence in the president’s chances of re-election in 2027, while also calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“Only time will tell. If you can’t beat them, you join them. Umunne, it’s better to be inside than outside. Thinking I’m well, join City Boy Movement,” he said.
The Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency is currently represented by Chukwugozie Nwachukwu under the APC.
