The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Diocese on the Niger, has suspended Reverend Ifunanya Maduka for six months without pay, effective April 27, 2026, due to his involvement in staging fake miracles and “arranged” prophecies at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Nteje, Anambra State.
Bishop Owen Nwokolo took disciplinary action following evidence that Maduka hired individuals to pose as beneficiaries of miracles, with the priest reportedly admitting to the fraudulent actions, which were described as unholy and deceptive.
Apart from the six months suspension for six months without pay the priest was ordered to vacate the church premises and hand over church property.
Reverend Ifunanya Maduka (also known as Revd Chaluoku Tv) was found to be performing “arranged” or “staged” miracles and “tumbom tumbom” (dubious) prophecies.
The Church cited “credible and verifiable reports” and personal admission by the priest regarding the manipulation of prophetic acts.
The suspension was announced by Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Nwokolo, Bishop on the Niger, reflecting a firm stance against the commercialization of faith and fraudulent practices within the Communion.
The Anglican community in Nigeria has broadly supported this disciplinary action, emphasizing the need for integrity in spiritual leadership and condemning the exploitation of gullible church members seeking miracles,.
