Fishing company obstructs only link road to estate in Magboro, Ogun state
For about one month now residents of Redstar estate,a sprawling and elitist residential estate opposite Prayer City, Moutain of Fire church along Lagos-ibadan expressway have been finding it difficult to drive in and drive out of their residential houses.
This is as a result of a new the activities of a new company obstructing the only access road into the estate.
The company Oceanlord fishing company situated few meters from the estate had in recent times constituted nuisance on the road with the indiscriminate packing of trucks and other heavy duty vehicles on the road to the point of blocking the road.
Once it rains the situation on the road gets very worse that most residents dread to drive out because of the bad state of the road being messed up by the company.
The icing on the cake was when the company cordoned off about three quarter portion of the road in front of their company, leaving a small section of the road which is murky and deplorable and thereby making it difficult for vehicles to pass.
Most times vehicles of estate residents get stuck on the badly dilapidated and muddy portion of the road thereby blocking the entire stretch of the road.
Also Okada riders and Keke operators now refuse to carry residents of the estate as they cite bad impassable road as excuse. This has put a toll on the already traumatized residents.
As a result of this residents after their monthly estate meeting trooped to the company en masse to lodge complain to the management of the company on what they are suffering.
On hand to receive the residents was one of the managers of Oceanlord fishing company and the company representative Mr. Ahmed, a Labanese.
After the complaints by the chairman of Redstar Estate resident association Engr. Nelson Olayinka who informed him that Redstar Estate expended millions of naira to construct the road from Bedmate company near Magboro market to Sparlight estate junction Mr Ahmed promised that work will be speedily done to put the road back to order.
Cartepillar was seen doing some excavation and grading as at the time of filing in this report but the road still remains terrible for easy and smooth vehicular movements.
It will be recalled that last year on the same stretch of the road towards Buildwell construction company and Sparlight estate another company Kachi Limited destroyed the road in front of their company making it impassable for Sparlight estate residents and workers of Buildwell, other companies and other motorists around the vicinity.
Attempts by community development committee (CDC) and Ogun state government to resolve the matter and force the defaulting company to repair the road has met brickwall as it’s reported that a powerful Politician, former Rivers state governor and ex transportation minister has an overriding interest in the company.
Residents of Sparlight estate, workers of Buildwell, other companies and adjoining estates and communities residents had to now and turn at Asese a journey of about 20 minutes instead of driving through the road to the expressway that takes less than two minutes.
If the problem caused by Oceanlord fishing company on the road is not resolved expeditiously the entire stretch of the road will be locked down thereby making it impossible for over 100 residents of Redstar estate and other sorrounding communities and users of the road to move in and out to fend for their daily needs.
