An indigene of Anambra State and an accomplished accountant, Chief Blakey Okwudili Ijezie, has described former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as the best governor the state has produced since the return of democracy in 1999.
Ijezie, a native of Umudunu, Egbema-Ozubulu, made the assertion in a strongly worded statement where he praised Obi’s style of governance, fiscal discipline, and developmental policies while in office.
According to him, Obi’s achievements were not based on political sentiments or propaganda, but on “visible evidence, measurable achievements, fiscal discipline, and transformational governance.”
He stated that during Obi’s administration, Anambra State witnessed what he described as a remarkable transition from instability to strategic governance, citing improvements in education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, investment drive, and institutional reforms.
“At a period when many states were drowning in debts, Anambra accumulated savings and investments for future generations. He demonstrated that governance is not about noise, but about results,” he said.
The Ozubulu-born accountant further noted that Obi governed with “uncommon restraint, strategic thinking, and responsibility to posterity,” adding that his tenure remains a benchmark for prudent governance not only in Anambra State but across Nigeria.
Ijezie, who identified himself as someone passionate about taxation, economics, fiscal discipline, and developmental civilisation, said Obi’s leadership reflected vision-driven governance rather than consumption-driven politics.
He also linked Obi’s administration to the philosophy of “Think Home. Build Home. Grow Home,” stressing that the former governor’s tenure offered practical proof of what purposeful leadership can achieve.
The statement was personally signed by Chief Blakey Okwudili Ijezie, FCA, popularly known as “ITE-OZUBULU NINE,” aka “ONYIKODOLU-UMUDUNU,” and “The Oracle of Umudunu.”
