Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has opened up about his current health challenges, revealing that he is experiencing difficulty walking and recurring swelling in parts of his body.
Edochie made the disclosure during a visit to ailing Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah in Accra, Ghana, on Thursday, reports News Express.
The veteran actor is currently in Ghana for the launch of the Pete Edochie Legacy Project, an initiative celebrating his contributions to African cinema and storytelling.
During the visit, Edochie prayed with Armah and offered him financial assistance as he continues to battle his health challenges.
Speaking about his own condition, Edochie said his mobility had become difficult and that different parts of his body sometimes became swollen.
“Sitting down here, I am not very well myself. Walking is a problem for me now, but I still have hope that I will recover.
“Sometimes I wake up and parts of my body have swollen up. After some time, they go down again. My hand is swollen,” he said.
Despite his condition, the veteran actor expressed hope of recovering, saying he continued to rely on God for strength.
He also spoke about how he would like his final days to be, saying he prayed not to become a burden to the people around him.
“I just keep asking God, you are the author of life. Whenever you feel it is time for me to go, just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me,” Edochie said.
The actor also expressed optimism about Armah’s recovery.
“Emma, I believe that you will recover someday, by the grace of God,” he told the Ghanaian actor.
Edochie’s revelation has generated concern among fans and colleagues, with many expressing sympathy and offering prayers for his recovery.
His visit to Armah comes amid the Ghanaian actor’s prolonged absence from active screen work due to health challenges.
