Nigerians grumble as Sanwolu plans burial of 103 #ENDSARS victims with N61,285,000
There are apprehensions, outrage and bitter outcry by Nigerians as Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwolu is planning to give dead victims of 2020 #ENDSARS a befitting burial with about N62 million.
This roughly translates to N595, 000 per dead body.
In a leaked memo from the seat of power at Alausa-Ikeja it was revelealed that a popular funeral company has been contracted to carry out burial contract.
Lagos state government in reaction has not denied the so called leaked memo saying they are carrying out the burial as the bodies have stayed so long in the mortuary.
Queried further on why burying EndSars victims when same government claimed no single Nigerian died at Lekki toll venue of the protest the government vowed that no single Nigerian from the toll gate end of the protest was among the bodies to buried. Rather according to them the bodies are the ones picked from various streets and roads of Lagos in the aftermath of the protest.
Some Nigerians interrogated by Agenda papers on their view of government using N595,000 to bury one dead body, they decried the callousness of a government who is willing to pay living Nigerian N8,000 per family as palliative occasioned by fuel subsidy removal but will use a whopping N595,000 to bury one dead body
Some even see the proposed burial as a government bereft of conscience that wants to extend corrupt practices even to dead people by profiting in something that should be heart rendering.
