Police arrest officer who Shot nollywood actor Azeez Ijaduade in Ogun state
The Police Command in Ogun State has arrested the policeman who shot and injured a popular Nollywood actor, Azeez Ijaduade.
The movie producer and director was shot in the Iperu area of Ogun State.
The shooting of Ijaduade, on Saturday night, was made known by one of his colleagues, Abiodun Adebanjo, on his Instagram story.
Adebanjo wrote: “Please we need help in Iperu.
“My director, Azeez Ijaduade, @kingzeez1, was shot by a Nigeria Police personnel.
“He is presently at Babcock University Teaching Hospital.
“Anybody with the contacts of the Police IG or Commissioner should reach out.”
The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola said the policeman who shot Ijaduade, whose name was not made known, is attached to an unnamed Chinese and has been apprehended.
Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, said the Nollywood great was shot late on Saturday at Napoli Hotel in Iperu.
The incident was reported at the Iperu Divisional Police Station by the Manager of Napoli Hotel, Fakoya Adewale.
The shooting incident was said to have occurred during the end of year party of Bramaj Company.
The mobile policeman attached to a Chinese expatriate fired a shot into the air, which hit Ijaduade on the neck.
Odutola said the actor is in stable condition, adding that the Commander MOPOL 16 has contacted the actor and also visited him in the hospital, “where he will be discharged soon.
“The Commander has also taken up responsibility for the medical bill.”
She said Ijaduade confirmed to the MOPOL Commander that he is in stable condition, adding: “Members of the public will be notified when he is discharged.”
Odutola disclosed that the Mobile Policeman involved in the shooting has been “identified and investigation into the shooting incident has commenced by the Command, members of the public will be updated accordingly.”
