The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a fresh upward review in the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, with the new pricing set to take effect from September 1, 2025.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration A.S. Akinlabi, who noted that the revised fees apply only to passport applications made within Nigeria.
“The review, which only affects Passport Application fees made in Nigeria, now sets new fee thresholds at ₦100,000 for the 32-page passport with five-year validity, and ₦200,000 for the 64-page passport with 10-year validity,” the statement said.
However, application fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year passport and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year version.
According to the NIS, the latest adjustment is designed to uphold the quality, security features, and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring service sustainability.
This is the second fee adjustment in two years. In August 2024, the Federal Government approved an increase that raised the 32-page booklet from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000, and the 64-page booklet from ₦70,000 to ₦100,000, effective September 1, 2024.
