Passengers on board a Kaduna-Abuja escaped death as the
train derailed following a collision.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the incident, saying the derailment occurred near Asham.
Passengers aboard the Kaduna–Abuja train service said the Abuja-bound train reportedly collided with another train on the track, forcing operations to halt along the route.
The incident which occurred at the wee hours of today also left many passengers stranded while railway officials worked to assess the situation.
Details of the crash, including possible casualties or damage to the trains, were not immediately available at the time of filing this report.
