Canadian families are set to receive a substantial $1,800 one-time Canada Child Benefit (CCB) bonus in July 2025, offering significant financial relief during a time of high living costs.
This increase, announced by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), is part of the federal government’s continuing support for low- and middle-income households, especially those raising children.
What Is the $1,800 CCB Bonus?
Originally launched in 2016, the Canada Child Benefit is a monthly tax-free payment for families with children under 18. In July 2025, eligible families will receive a special lump-sum bonus of up to $1,800 per child, on top of their regular CCB payments.
This temporary boost aims to help families cover essential needs like education, healthcare, childcare, and school-related expenses amid ongoing inflation.
Eligibility Criteria for the $1,800 CCB Bonus
To receive the $1,800 bonus in July 2025, families must meet the following conditions:
Be the primary caregiver of a child under 18
Both caregiver and child must be Canadian residents
File the 2024 income tax return by April 30, 2025
Meet the adjusted family net income threshold as per CRA’s guidelines
No separate application is required—the CRA will use the 2024 tax filing data to determine eligibility. Families who’ve moved provinces or changed custody arrangements are advised to update their CRA My Account information to avoid delays.
Provincial Breakdown of the CCB Bonus
The bonus amount may vary slightly by province due to regional costs of living and provincial supplements. Here’s an estimated breakdown:
