DSS arrests NLC president, Joe Ajaero on his way to labour conference in London

Operatives of the Department of the State Services have arrested the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero.

Agenda Papers learned that Ajaero was arrested on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

The NLC president was billed to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London, which begins today.

No reason has been given for the arrest of the foremost Nigeria labour leader.

Recall that last week Police invited Joe Ajaero to come and answer questions concerning allegations of subversion, treasonable felony, cyber crimes etc.

He honoured the police invitation and was released only for him to be issued with another invitation to the police headquarters.

Organized labour in Nigeria has threatened total shut down of the country if the police or any arm of the security agencies arrest and detain Joe Igbokwe.

Details and reasons for the arrest are still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
