Former Super Eagles midfielder, Henry Nwosu is dead.
He reportedly died earlier today at the age of 62.
Nwosu’s demise was confirmed by former Nigerian international Segun Odegbami, who shared the announcement in an emotional message that quickly spread across Nigeria’s football community.
Nwosu was widely regarded as one of the most talented midfielders of his generation. Known for his creativity, vision, and composure on the ball, he played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s golden era of football and was instrumental in the national team’s success during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He was a key member of the Green Eagles squad that won the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil — Nigeria’s first-ever continental title — a triumph that cemented his place in the country’s football history.
